Introduction
Dulanka Devendra is an award-winning filmmaker, commercial director, and VFX artist who has collaborated with numerous renowned brands across the region. He began his journey in the industry at just 19, starting as a visual effects artist in the TV commercial world. His rapid growth and creative instinct led him to become a Creative Director by 2018.
Over the years, Dulanka has directed multiple short films, with his acclaimed work Children of White earning widespread international recognition. The film won Best Short Film at the Singapore South Asian Film Festival (2018) and the Jaffna International Cinema Festival (2018), and earned him the title of Most Promising Director at the Agenda 14 Short Film Festival in Sri Lanka. It was also officially selected for the Best International Short Film category at the Monterrey International Film Festival 2018 in Mexico. In the same year, Dulanka attended the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
Today, Dulanka is developing his debut feature film Memoria (Mathaka Wasthra), exploring Sri Lanka’s political instability and the tragic era of infant trafficking. The project was selected as a finalist at the Film Bazaar India Project Lab 2021.
